Most works of Outsider Art, which are produced on the margins of society and sometimes in secret, only come to light by chance or through the efforts of someone close to the artist.

The collector Bruno Decharme has assembled his collection over forty-five years through chance meetings and serendipitous discoveries. The creations he has collected were produced outside the recognised artistic world, but today represent an important chapter in art history.
The exhibition explores the history of Outsider Art through over 300 works. These works originate from the donation made by Bruno Decharme to the Musée national d'art moderne at the Centre Pompidou in 2021.
Organised like a puzzle to reflect the kaleidoscope of themes and approaches which characterise research into Outsider Art, the exhibition showcases the unexpected creative wealth which the human mind can unleash when it is not bound by the norm.
